Producers of PET polyester, magnetized laminates, lenticular plastics, high impact polystyrene (HIPS), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), Expanded polystyrene (EPS), high-pressure laminates, and coated plastic films can convert product at higher speeds than conventional drop shear equipment while insuring square, accurate dimensions using twin knife rotary technology.
Employing energy-conserving AC drive technology and state of the art motion control systems the SDFK Sheeter provides a sheet length accuracy of +/-0.015” (+/- 0.38 mm). For sheeting pre-printed material, the SDFK Sheeter can be equipped with cut to register capabilities. The SDFK Sheeter can be outfitted with a load cell tension control that matches the sheeter speed to the extruder or coater speed assuring accurate sheet length. Designed to produce crisp, tight piles the stacker’s jogging system is built to withstand continuous operation. A delivery system introduces air between each cut packet. Meanwhile, a back jog plate and side jogger blades vibrate sheets into press-ready skids.
In this sheeter design, the cutting section includes knives mounted in an upper and lower rotating cylinder. Using the exclusive clash arrangement, the operator can safely adjust the cross-cutting blades while the cutter is running, by transversely shifting the upper cylinder across the width of the cutter to increase (or decrease clash). This allows the operator to improve cut quality while running the sheeter. Using Maxson’s proven dual knife rotary cutter design, the SDFK provides the cleanest, quietest and highest quality cutting action available. With a knife loading capacity 800 lbs./3300 ft2 (1000 gsm) its solid knife revolvers are the market leader in shearing power.
Outfitted with a rugged dual knife rotary cutter design SDFK Sheeter can reach speeds of 300 fpm (90 mpm). When equipped with an extending grid system the SDFK is capable of continuous operation during skid changes without the loss of acceptable sheets. With its compact footprint, the sheeter requires nominal site work and minimal floor space. When outfitted with casters or an “air flotation” design the entire unit can be moved offline to allow access to an extruder’s crew.
