MAXSON Shaftless Pivot Arm Roll Stand
The Pivot Arm Roll Stand is hydraulically powered to load and position the roll. The clamping pressure to drive the chucks into the roll’s core is through a 5 HP hydraulic motor driving a power screw which moves the far chucking arm toward the chucking arm on the Operator side. The clamping movement is controlled by a lever on located on the console. A pressure relief valve protects the roll stand from overload damage.
The roll is raised and lowered by two hydraulic cylinders, one on each arm. Velocity fuses in the line prevent rapid lowering of the roll in the event of pressure loss. Normal operating position of the roll is in the upright stance but the roll can be raised slightly off the floor for lateral movement and final setting of the chucks into the the core.
The entire stand moves laterally on tracks which permits the unit to be move off line for loading. This self loading feature permits roll changes within 3 – 4 minutes. Remote web alignment is a standard feature that allows the Operator to adjust the position of the unit from another location. Automatic web guidance is also available.
The roll stand is equipped with automatic tension control that reduces the brake pressure as the roll diameter decreases. It also includes a “low roll diameter” detection system to assist the Operator.
